Welcome to KAIPTC
The WPS desk works to support the full implementation of the African Union (AU) Protocol to the African Charter on the Rights of Women in Africa (Maputo Protocol), the United Nations Security Council Resolution(UNSCR) 1325, and the follow-up resolution on Women Peace and Security in the context of Africa and beyond. It also works to promotes gender parity and inclusive participation of women in peace processes through capacity building of women at the grassroots, middle, and strategic levels, research, policy dialogues, gender advisory, and advocacy. Since its inception, the office has worked with various national, regional, continental, and international stakeholders to promote Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE) and the achievement of the WPS Agenda in Africa
Advocacy for Women’s Participation: Advocating for women’s meaningful participation in peace negotiations and decision-making at all levels of governance.
Training and Capacity Building: Programs that train women to engage in peacebuilding and conflict resolution, both at the grassroots and leadership levels.
Research: Conducts research that highlights the essence of women in peace and security.
