Welcome to KAIPTC
The Women, Youth, Peace and Security Institute (WYPSI) of the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) is a leading voice in Africa for promoting gender equality and women and youth inclusion in peacebuilding. The Institute aims to strengthen the KAIPTC’s role in increasing Africa’s capacity to effectively implement the African Union Protocol to the African Charter on the Rights of Women and Youth in Africa (Maputo Protocol and the AU Continental Framework on YPS) and the United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) 1325 and 2250, alongside subsequent resolutions on Women, Youth, Peace, and Security in the African context.
This is achieved through building technical capacity, research, policy engagement, and analysis on women, youth, peace and security to better inform the broader security agenda in Africa. For over a decade, WYPSI has been a Centre of Excellence on Women, Peace and Security (WPS) in Africa.
Established in 2010 as the Women, Peace, and Security Institute, in 2023, its mandate was expanded to include the Youth, Peace, and Security (YPS) Agenda. YPS acknowledges the youth’s role as agents of peace in the peace and security ecosystem. WYPSI is therefore committed to equipping African women and youth with the tools and skills to drive inclusive change and sustainable peace on the continent.
This press release highlights key milestones, upcoming programs, and the organization’s unwavering commitment to driving transformative change across West Africa.
We celebrate the remarkable contributions of our partners. Their impactful journeys inspire current and future leaders, underscoring the value of partnership and collective progress in fostering lasting change
