The Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) has officially launched its first ever alumni chapter on Friday, 11 October 2024 in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the history of the institution and Sierra Leone.
This momentous occasion saw the swearing in of interim executives, charged with the responsibility to stir up the functions and mandates of KAIPTC.
The Commandant, KAIPTC, Major General Richard Addo Gyane said, the Sierra Leone alumni chapter was the first to be launched across the region. He expressed gratitude to the Inspector General of Police and team for imbibing such a great initiative.
Maj Gen Gyane expressed his commitment to fully support the newly elected executives of the alumni, as it serves as a testament of his existing passion to facilitate the institution’s collaborative efforts.
He emphasized, “I felt that we should have country’s chapter and Sierra Leone is the first in the history of KAIPTC.”
He mentioned that the current leadership would subsequently meet on one platform to elect the global alumni and urged the old and new alumni to work with the new leadership for a successful tenure.
The Commandant added that there were a number of opportunities in KAIPTC, especially cross-country capacity buildings that would be cultivated.
He also stated that KAIPTC was a well-recognized institution in the world, known for promoting peace and security.
He, therefore, seized the opportunity to congratulate the newly elected executives and assured them of his personal support to ensure that the chapter served as an example to other countries
The Deputy Inspector General of Police, Aiah Samadia, applauded the new leadership and assured them of continuous support.
