Lord Tariq Ahmad de Wimbledon loue le KAIPTC pour sa contribution à la paix mondiale

TLe Représentant Spécial du Premier Ministre britannique en charge de la Prévention des violences sexuelles dans les conflits et Ministre d’État pour le Commonwealth et les Nations Unies, Lord Ahmad de Wimbledon, a salué la contribution du KAIPTC aux activités de maintien de la paix dans le monde, en évoquant la particularité de ses formations qui ont fourni plus de 15 000 personnes aux opérations de soutien à la paix dans le monde entier. Il a ajouté que le Centre était le seul établissement de formation sur le continent à avoir un Institut femmes, paix et sécurité.

Lord Ahmad Of Wimbledon praises KAIPTC for contributing to Global Peacekeeping

The British Prime Minister’s Special Representative on Preventing Sexual Violence in Conflict and Minister of State for the Commonwealth and United Nations, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, has lauded KAIPTC’s contribution to global peacekeeping, citing its hallmark of training over fifteen thousand participants for peace support operations around the world. He further noted that the Centre is the only training institution on the continent to have a Women, Peace and Security Institute.

He made these remarks during a round table meeting held at KAIPTC to discuss ‘UN Peacekeeping Reform: the UN and Africa’. He stressed the UK government’s support for reform in peacekeeping through improvement in three areas – Planning, Pledges, and performance. These 3P’s, contained in the joint ‘Communiqué signed at the London Peacekeeping Defence Ministerial last September, is considered a blueprint for peacekeeping reform.

IGP calls for deeper collaboration between Police Service and KAIPTC

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Ghana, Mr. David Asante-Apeatu, has highlighted the need to strengthen the rapport between the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), and the Ghana Police Service, to achieve shared goals on peace and security in the nation and beyond.

“We can further collaborate to explore other critical areas of policing, including counter terrorism, transnational organized crime, human trafficking and proliferation of small arms”. This move, he believes, will not only be beneficial to the Ghana Police Service, but also other Police Services within the ECOWAS sub-region.

L’inspecteur général de la police ghanéenne (IGP), M. David Asante-Apeatu, a souligné la nécessité de renforcer les liens entre le Centre International Kofi Annan de Formation au Maintien de la Paix (KAIPTC) et les Services de police du Ghana, en vue de réaliser des objectifs communs en matière de paix et de sécurité dans le pays et au-delà.

“Ce renforcement de collaboration permet d’examiner d’autres domaines critiques du maintien de l’ordre, dont la lutte contre le terrorisme, la criminalité transnationale organisée, la traite des êtres humains et la prolifération des armes légères”. Cette mesure, estime-t-il, ne servira pas seulement les services de police nationale, mais aussi les services de police des autres pays de la sous-région de la CEDEAO.
